A two story, yellow brick, storefront has long sat vacant on the corner of Jefferson and Broughton. Historically a Chinese laundry, cigar chop, and pawn shop this structure has traditionally been commercial in nature. A major national chain was approved in the spring of 2010 to rehabilitate the structure for future commercial use. The much debated proposed design worked closely with the MPC to create a historically respectful. Occupation can be seen as positive infill that may aid in revitalization of the western corridor of Broughton Street.
