EMS Station

Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Between Oglethorpe Ave & Hull St.

The vacant Emergency Medical Service building located on the 200 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard once played an integral role in Savannah’s medical history. It was the first Emergency Medical Service transportation building in Savannah and may have been the first within the county.  The small, brick EMS building remains vacant and in poor condition.  The building is surrounded by a revenue generating parking lot that is now utilized by the county.  The extensive history of this parcel can be traced back to the early 19th century.  Upon this location once stood the Savannah Female Orphan Asylum which has since been demolished.
